Since Keri's Been Gone
For all you Keri Hilson aficionados, a track that was heard many times over by fans but was nowhere to be found has finally leaked on to the web. This little 1:30 sound clip is a cover of Kelly Clarkson's smash hit "Since U Been Gone". During Justin Timberlake’s FutureSex/LoveShow’s world tour a few years back this was played during intermissions with the addition of some Timbaland vocal effects. The style of the song is definitely the 2006 Timbaland we all loved. The sound clip that has leaked sounds a bit naked and less hype compared to the one played during the concert. Despite that fact it's a good listen for those who like Keri Hilson.

GaGa & Red One
Here is another remix of GaGa's Poker Face. It sounds pretty much the same as the original with a few variations. Check it out!

Who's Really the Ish, Kanye vs. Lil Jon?
A few months ago the DJ Class Baltimore club track made it's way onto the web. It created some buzz because it marked the first time Lil Jon actually went into the studio to rap i.e. make noise over a B-more dance track. Now Kanye has lent his autotune voice to the song. Kanye's voice sans the autotune would have made a better song, it's just overused. I wonder if T-Pain will still have a career, after all these artists have abused what is his signature style but that all together is a new topic. As for the C.S. view on the two songs, Kanye's version is more laid-back and Lil Jon's is more energy filled. We're going to have to go with Lil Jon's crazy attitude, it's just aggressive and fun and that's what Baltimore club music is all about.
Those Dancing Days
Those Dancing Days, an all-female indie pop band from Sweden, has been creating great music since 2005. In 2007 they released the Those Dancings Days EP to much praise and respect. The following year their debut album In Our Space Hero Suits was released in the UK with a fair reception. Now, in 2009, they haven't made much of a splash but by luck I came across their song "Those Dancing Days". The song was similar to a cold shower, just that refreshing. The frantic drum beating, rhythmic vocals and overall summer vibe keeps this song on repeat. Hopefully they get the attention they deserve and you can check them out on Myspace.

"My Name Wale and I Came to Kill It"
Wale, another one of those promising '09 hip-hop artists, has finally released his hype track in anticipation of his upcoming album Attention Deficit. Cool and Dre produced the party startin' beat to back Wale's boastful style. Oh and we cannot forget Lady GaGa, she's the perfect addition additon to the song, she is really working hard to be up there, get um GaGa. Check out the CDQ below

You Better Get Enough of CuDi While You Can
In spite of CuDi's recent claim that he was retiring he is still hard at work on the promo trail for his upcoming LP, Man on the Moon: The Guardians. His whole reason for retiring is that Hollywood is destroying his relationship with his industry friends on top of him completing the goals he set out to do. Hollywood has an infamous reputation of being like some X-rated Gossip Girl scene. Fans were almost enraged but we totally respect his decision, that's if it's his final decision, because CuDi is just a regular guy working hard at what he loves. He's not in it for the fame or to be anyone's role model. Sad to say this but that part of American culture where people look for or even allow entertainers to be role models for themselves is pure crap, especially with the lifestyle most of them live.
Kid Cudi's performances, as seen above, was nothing short of good entertainment. The songs are mellow and smooth but he still manages to make it hype but what do you expect CuDi knows what he's doing. If he stays in the game no doubt he'll keep fans going crazy but if not then he'll still be just as good.
This Thing Called 'Indefinite Hiatus'
Hello there, it seems like a century and some when we make a new post nowadays. I've mentioned in the past that we were doing some things, met with countless delays, but it's coming along better now and when we return we'll be back just as strong as before or stronger. What I will not do is mention a specific date 'cause it's bad enough our posting has been this scarce. So until then be safe and take care.

Her World is Perfect Now
So there you have it, after all the many push backs we have the leak of Keri's album, In a Perfect World... This just makes it 100% believable that on March 24 her album will finally be in stores. From the beginning of 2008 demo tracks and completed ones were released to the public sort of spoiling the anticipation of this album. So it was refreshing when the final track list was released with a lot of unheard songs. As for the actual music Keri delivers with lots of ballads & bangers, as the album should be called. Her fans will definitely be satisfied and will have the rest of the mainstream crowd hooked. This album would have hit a bit harder if it wasn't for a good amount of the material being spoiled from so long ago but besides that In a Perfect World... is worth some attention. Remember to purchase it in stores MARCH 24.

Sky Might Fall♫
Kanye premiered a clip on his blog featuring CuDi’s new song “Sky Might Fall” in the new Transformers trailer. Shortly after, a video showed up of CuDi performing it live. Now we have the full studio version. Emotion and melody is what CuDi is all about and this song is as great as the rest.

What to Watch Tonight
Tonight there will be 2 premieres on the BET network, the first will be the 2009 Rip the Runway special at 9pm et and the series premiere of Harlem Heights at 10p/m et. Most of you know BET is, let's just say not up there with their quality of programming but they do offer some shows worth a watch with Harlem Heights showing some great potential. The show Harlem Heights follows a group of 20 somethings who reside in Harlem but the twist is it's not the stereotypical story. Sure when you read Harlem or hear the name Harlem you automatically assume ghetto but this is not the case. 'The cast consists of the ex-girlfriend of an international music star; a budding lifestyle editor for a magazine; a struggling actress; a young man with a troubled family; a native Harlem-ite and father of a young daughter; the hard-partying son of a prominent Harlem political leader; an aspiring lawyer with big ambitions; and a driven fashionista.' So be sure to check both shows out starting at 9p/m et on the BET network.
Not to be forgotten, our peepz Lamar James and AllyMissLove of the fresh blog SUPERSWAGGER.COM, will be making guest appearances on Harlem Heights throughout the season. Lamar will also be taking a turn on the runway for T.I.'s Akoo line for the Rip the Runway special. Special shout outs to them, they've been more than good to The C.S. Perspective.
His Name is Mateo
Via: pmablog
Here's another exceptional case of an artist who matches the characteristics of today's top vocal male artists but does it on his own accord. Yes, I'm referring to this guy, Mateo, who until today my musical universe was unaware of. This is the exact type of artist S would melt at the first sound of his voice. Mateo knows how to make some extremely ear-pleasing music.
Head on over to his Myspace to download his mixtape, it's the only way to have those songs you hear in the C.S. Box and his track for "Get Out of My Head" using the "Live Your Life" instrumental can be downloaded below. Definitely be on lookout for Mateo.

Kanye West VH1 Storytellers
So last night on VH1 the much talked about Kanye West edition of VH1's Storytellers finally aired. For those of you who don't know, Storytellers is a mini-concert in which the artist featured gives intermission speeches about their music, sort of like an musical review of each song.
That set design was something else, just something beautiful. Kanye performed a bevy of his hits, a few of the classics and the newer ones from 808's & Heartbreak. Kanye is truly an artist of our time, putting himself into each and every song he performed that night. A personal favorite of mine was "Robocop", I cannot wait until the video is released for it. I do not know but the violin is my favorite instrument to listen to in contemporary music, "Viva La Vida" people. I also couldn't help but jam to the "Good Life" performance, it's just a feel-good song.
Okay so here is the downfall of the whole show. Eventhough the show had a run-time of one and a half hours I probably caught a decent hour. Reason being, I just couldn't bear to hear Kanye continue to feed that ego of his. Both S and I agree Kanye is a genius musician but it is overshadowed by his self-indulgent ramblings. As always Kanye speaks from the heart but he must think that gives him the right to praise himself as the next coming of Jesus or something. I honestly do not think the audience knew what they were hearing because they were cheering for that foolishness. I don't know if I could work for a celebrity for too long, they all seem to be surrounded by YES people and after I warm up I'd be quick to tell them no especially, when it's not in his/her best interest.
With that said watch the perfomances below.
Part 1 (See You In My Nightmares, Robocop, Flashing Lights & Amazing)
Part 2 (Touch The Sky & Say You Will)
Part 3 (Good Life, Heartless/Pinocchio Story & Stronger)

Here is Kanye's "Stronger" performance from VH1 Storytellers. You can catch the full show Saturday the 28th of Feb. on VH1 at 9/8c.
Solange Does AOL
Solange did a four song set for AOL Black Voices. Entertaining is all I have to say, her talent is highly underrated and so is her album Sol-Angel & The Hadley St. Dreams. She performed "Sandcastle Disco", "Cosmic Journey", "T.O.N.Y." and a cover of "Destiny". Cosmic Journey is the jam, it's refreshing and oh so smooth. Sandcastle Disco is so funky and upbeat, it's a perfect summer song for a road trip or any other form of long traveling. The new mix of T.O.N.Y. was on point and that cover of Destiny just showed the great vocals she has. Check out the performances below.

Kat y Wayne
Kat DeLuna gets together with Lil Wayne for a second time to produce the song "Put It On Ya". It's just a good song to listen to but that's the thing with Kat DeLuna she's just mediocre, nothing too exciting.

♫PUT IT ON YA
Missy is making a return in 2009 (besides her work for Step Up 2 The Streets). This makes a four year hiatus since she released The Cookbook and this track right here is setting things off to a BLAZINNNG start. "Put It On Ya" finds Missy Elliott rhyming, singing and speaking Pig Latin over a Pharrell Baltimore inspired instrumental. I wanted to wait until the full song leaks but I cannot refrain, this song is going to be scorching up the dancefloors.

Here's the video premiere for Jamie Foxx's "Blame It" featuring T-Pain. The video is directed by Hype William's and features a truck load of celebrity cameos. Check it out.
"Day Dreaming" Video Premiere
Here is the video premiere for DJ Drama's first single, "Day Dreaming", from his upcoming album Gangsta Grillz:The Album 2. The video features Akon, Snoop Dogg and T.I. The songs itself is a nice radio-friendly track but the video is unoriginal, it does nothing to bring new fans into the genre.
'09: Year of the CuDi
When was the last time time you were excited about a new hip-hop artist? Well KiD CuDi is one of a very few that I'm looking forward to in '09. KiD CuDi is the mess. Here is his '09 freestyle, pure craziness.
"I'll Hold yOU Tight Even If It Takes All Night..."
OHHHHHHH John Legend had to go and release a new track. This song spoils my ears and John Legend is a soulful genius. The only thing I'm doing right now is clicking my fingers and tapping my foot. Someone hand me a lady so I can slow dance.
C.S. Exclusive: Be's "Intoxicated"
Here we have an exclusive from The Bahamas' very own Bodine 'Be' Johnson. The track is titled "Intoxicated" on the One Night Riddim produced by Lincoln Ward. Both S and I give it our stamp of approval, the melody has that "Tide is High" vibe to it. You can check Be out on Facebook and Myspace. Also, for our Bahamian viewers call into radio stations and vote this one to the top. You can stream the song below.

Day26
Day26 has a new song and its title is "Put It On Her". The song sounds very similar to every other r&b song we've heard and that causes me to think their new album will be disc 2 to their debut instead of something fresh. With that said, the song does sound good, very catchy but will get tired quick.

It's All a Dream
Love vs. Money is almost here, in fact it will hit stores on March 10. Two more songs have surfaced, the first is "Sweat It Out", something very lack-luster and the second, "Walking on the Moon" featuring KanYeezy. Here's L.A. Reid's opinion of "Walking on the Moon":
“It’s crazy! L.A. Reid says that he thinks that it’s bigger than ‘Umbrella!...”
SAY WHAT! Get outta here Mr. Reid. This song is good but it is miles away from "Umbrella". It will be awhile before another ditty song comes along with the impact of a generational anthem like "Umbrella" did. That's a song that still sounds fresh today, almost two years since its release. Check out the songs.
The-Dream:
One Day
I start the analyzing process of a song from the second it starts and when this one started with the solo piano I thought it would be a very dry and boring track. Then the instrumental kicks in and Keyshia starts her singing. The song is smooth and should have been included on A Different Me which is in stores now.

It's All the Fans Ever Wanted
Someone had a big slip up yesterday. The Norway branch of the iTunes store accidentally put the full Kelly Clarkson album up for full download which isn't supposed to be released until March 10. I bet Apple will have to fork over most of its earnings to keep the peace with her record label. As for the album it delivers 100%, she returns with her signature pop/rock sound with the assistance of top notch producers; Ryan Tedder, Kara DioGuardi, and Max Martin. This most likely was the decision she chose after her last album My December did not fair well outside of her fanbase. This whole album can be left on repeat. Due to the way her album leaked and for the safety of this blog I will only post two songs to whet your appetite. The first is a heavy pop/rock track, "Don't Let Me Stop You", and the second is an ear-catching mid-tempo track, "Save You". Remember to go out and buy All I Ever Wanted when it hits stores on March 10th.

C's Perspective on the Chris Brown/ Rihanna Situation
This situation with Chris Brown and Rihanna has been going on for almost two weeks now. I didn't feel it was my place to say anything but since a pic was leaked via TMZ displaying Rihanna's abuse I thought I'd say a little something.
First, I'm not going to post the picture because that's a picture that should have been kept in confidence. People, from the very beginning have just been so eager to give their piece on the whole situation; Rihanna should not have provoked him, Chris Brown needs to go to jail, etc... Sides were taken but what really has me puzzled is everybody's instant boycott of Chris Brown's music.
Call me insensitive or what not but I do not mix an artist's ability to produce good music with the downfall of his/her personal life. I need an example to compare this with so that some of you can see where I'm coming from. Look at Michael Jackson and that whole situation with the children, most likely something happened with them but he was acquitted and we all went back to listening to his music because it's great music. Now not everyone likes Chris Brown's music but I love it, especially since he dropped that minimal r&b and broadened his sound to more than just one genre.
Besides, this whole situation is no one's damn business. Of course we should sympathize or empathize with Rihanna because of it being domestic violence but trying to put someone in their grave for something that has absolutely nothing to do with yourself is a bit ridiculous.
My final words are yes, what Chris Brown did is not proper at all but I'm not connected personally to neither of them nor the situation so I have no reason to be carrying on like he hit my family member or friend. When it's something that personal between two people then I say leave it alone and let their families and friends and the court sort it out. I will continue to post Chris Brown's music on this blog and if you don't like it just close your eyes as you pass the post.

Greatness in the form of a Guy Named K'naan
Here is a little bit of background info on K'naan:
Knaan is a poet and hip-hop artist from Somalia. Born in Mogadishu, at age 13 he left for New York City with his mother and brother and finally settled in Rexdale, Ontario, Canada.
In 2001 K’naan performed in Geneva at the 50th anniversary of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees.
Man where do i start with this one? I first heard K'naan's music at the end of Harold and Kumar: Escape from Guantanamo Bay. I was hooked on to "In the Beginning" instantly. For a long time I listened to him not knowing him as the artist he is until my friend Jasmine (shout out to Jazzy) brought him to my attention last year. Now he's all over MTV n such, getting ready to release his latest effort Troubador. His music is spectacular, so real, so easy to listen to... just pure excellence. I have four songs for you all to listen to, three of them from his latest album Troubador. Remember the album drops next TUESDAY THE 24TH OF FEBRUARY. BUY IT!

D. Woods
Former Danity Kane member D. Woods is ready to tackle her solo career and within the last week three songs have leaked from her. The first, "On My Side", which is a bass thumpin' mid-tempo track, with a sweet melody that almost has an instant appeal. The second song, "Legalize Me" is equally as appealing as "On My Side" with a funky beat backing Woods' sassy vocals. The third, "Just Friends", in which she samples a truckload of songs is an alright song but doesn't have the appeal of the first two songs. Check them out.

Classy but Fabricated
Via: Kanye
The internet went into a little bit of a craze when former Danity Kane member Aubrey O'Day decided to pose for Playboy. Like most people we all thought it would be trash because, well Aubrey isn't known for being so classy. Contrary to our beliefs the editorial came out notches above anything we expected. One problem with this spread is it's obvious how people today try to pass artificial off as real. No one can expect to believe that all of that is her, those photos are retouched way too much, they must have hired Mariah Carey's team. Besides that the spread is quality, pure quality.
