Who's Really the Ish, Kanye vs. Lil Jon?

A few months ago the DJ Class Baltimore club track made it's way onto the web. It created some buzz because it marked the first time Lil Jon actually went into the studio to rap i.e. make noise over a B-more dance track. Now Kanye has lent his autotune voice to the song. Kanye's voice sans the autotune would have made a better song, it's just overused. I wonder if T-Pain will still have a career, after all these artists have abused what is his signature style but that all together is a new topic. As for the C.S. view on the two songs, Kanye's version is more laid-back and Lil Jon's is more energy filled. We're going to have to go with Lil Jon's crazy attitude, it's just aggressive and fun and that's what Baltimore club music is all about.

Sky Might Fall♫

Kanye premiered a clip on his blog featuring CuDi’s new song “Sky Might Fall” in the new Transformers trailer. Shortly after, a video showed up of CuDi performing it live. Now we have the full studio version. Emotion and melody is what CuDi is all about and this song is as great as the rest.

Kanye West VH1 Storytellers

So last night on VH1 the much talked about Kanye West edition of VH1's Storytellers finally aired. For those of you who don't know, Storytellers is a mini-concert in which the artist featured gives intermission speeches about their music, sort of like an musical review of each song.

That set design was something else, just something beautiful. Kanye performed a bevy of his hits, a few of the classics and the newer ones from 808's & Heartbreak. Kanye is truly an artist of our time, putting himself into each and every song he performed that night. A personal favorite of mine was "Robocop", I cannot wait until the video is released for it. I do not know but the violin is my favorite instrument to listen to in contemporary music, "Viva La Vida" people. I also couldn't help but jam to the "Good Life" performance, it's just a feel-good song.

Okay so here is the downfall of the whole show. Eventhough the show had a run-time of one and a half hours I probably caught a decent hour. Reason being, I just couldn't bear to hear Kanye continue to feed that ego of his. Both S and I agree Kanye is a genius musician but it is overshadowed by his self-indulgent ramblings. As always Kanye speaks from the heart but he must think that gives him the right to praise himself as the next coming of Jesus or something. I honestly do not think the audience knew what they were hearing because they were cheering for that foolishness. I don't know if I could work for a celebrity for too long, they all seem to be surrounded by YES people and after I warm up I'd be quick to tell them no especially, when it's not in his/her best interest.

Love vs. Money is almost here, in fact it will hit stores on March 10. Two more songs have surfaced, the first is "Sweat It Out", something very lack-luster and the second, "Walking on the Moon" featuring KanYeezy. Here's L.A. Reid's opinion of "Walking on the Moon":

“It’s crazy! L.A. Reid says that he thinks that it’s bigger than ‘Umbrella!...”

SAY WHAT! Get outta here Mr. Reid. This song is good but it is miles away from "Umbrella". It will be awhile before another ditty song comes along with the impact of a generational anthem like "Umbrella" did. That's a song that still sounds fresh today, almost two years since its release. Well it's an OFFICIAL wrap for girl group Danity Kane. This is no suprise in more ways than one. From Diddy dropped the bomb of kicking out Aubrey O'day and telling D. Woods she could leave, no one actually expected this group to stay alive after a hard hit like that. All pop acts have a time limit, it's just how much they're willing to sacrifice and how hard they plan on working to stay relevant.

However things are looking up for Dawn Richard. She was kept on by Diddy as a solo act and will also have a featured spot on Diddy's upcoming untitled album. It's too bad though with the success of Danity Kane's last two albums, the third might have just been the charm to solidify them as international pop stars. Now the countdown begins on how long it will be before Day26 breaks up.

Jennifer Hudson is finally back to work on the set of her music video for "If This Isn't love". She is also set to perform the National Anthem at this Sunday's Superbowl and at the Grammys the following Sunday. All this work is the perfect distraction she needs right now.

Yesterday news spread like wildfire about the confirmation of the professional split between Kelly Rowland and Matthew Knowles. Knowles, manager of Destiny's Child, the solo careers of the members and manager to second daughter Solange Knowles, has finally been smacked in his face. Below are two statements regarding the split

“Mathew Knowles has been a positive influence in my career. I have had great success under his guidance — both as a member of Destiny’s Child and with my solo projects. Although we have decided to part ways professionally, the Knowles family and the entire Music World Entertainment team will always be my family.”

“After a very positive meeting between Kelly Rowland and myself, we have amicably agreed to end our professional relationship. My company, Music World, will continue to manage Destiny’s Child as a group. As an artist Kelly has incredible talent and I only wish her the best. We will always be family first and foremost, and as a dad I only have love for Kelly.”

All I have to say it's about time. Those statements seem so fake. Of course with public statements you have to have some sort of dignity and class but I know inside Knowles is pissed as hell and Rowland is smiling from ear to ear. As time progresses we'll see if Kelly's poor performance as a solo artist really had to do with Knowles being her manager.

As the days pass more and more images are released from the collaboration between Kanye West and Louis Vuitton. The first image above is the hi-top design from the male's sneaker line and the following two images are the sneakers from the female line. It's cool to see high-end clothing brands make more casual clothes that the younger generation would wear everyday instead of the over the top art infused pieces which arouse too many questions.

Kanye West for Louis Vuitton... All Red

Earlier this month Kanye West had people going crazy on his blog and other blogs alike when he leaked a photo of a sample sneaker of his collaboration with prestigious fashion brand Louis Vuitton. Then the other day over in Paris at the Louis Vuitton show it was unveiled to the public. The one unveiled was all red, one of two of my favorite colors. The shoe looks fresh I must say, I would go right out and buy it but for right now Chet is not paying Louis Vuitton prices. All in all Kanye really seems to be into this fashion thing and not doing it as a mere hobby. I 'm telling you, DREAM BIG and WORK at it and it will come tru. PARIS — Marc Jacobs and the Louis Vuitton men’s studio director Paul Helbers have some design competition this season. Kanye West, who was sitting front row at the Vuitton show, has designed a line of five LV sneakers. Only one design, above, was featured in the show — a monochromatic midtop with no frills, save for a quilted flap in the back, all the easier to tuck pants into. “The inspiration came from a jacket with a huge collar in the movie ‘Dune,’ ” West says. “Most sneakers focus on the tongue, so I wanted to do something different.” West knows whereof he speaks: he says he has no idea how many shoes he owns, but he does know that he routinely needs to send shipments off to storage. The LV-meets-Kanye kicks will be available at Louis Vuitton stores in June.

OK the Coast is Clear

Back in November of last year I posted this mixtape but it was removed probably because it was only supposed to be tested on listeners at the time. Well Kanye has it up on his blog so i guess it's safe to post it now.
