Who's Really the Ish, Kanye vs. Lil Jon?

Photobucket

A few months ago the DJ Class Baltimore club track made it's way onto the web. It created some buzz because it marked the first time Lil Jon actually went into the studio to rap i.e. make noise over a B-more dance track. Now Kanye has lent his autotune voice to the song. Kanye's voice sans the autotune would have made a better song, it's just overused. I wonder if T-Pain will still have a career, after all these artists have abused what is his signature style but that all together is a new topic. As for the C.S. view on the two songs, Kanye's version is more laid-back and Lil Jon's is more energy filled. We're going to have to go with Lil Jon's crazy attitude, it's just aggressive and fun and that's what Baltimore club music is all about.

Those Dancing Days

Photobucket

Those Dancing Days, an all-female indie pop band from Sweden, has been creating great music since 2005. In 2007 they released the Those Dancings Days EP to much praise and respect. The following year their debut album In Our Space Hero Suits was released in the UK with a fair reception. Now, in 2009, they haven't made much of a splash but by luck I came across their song "Those Dancing Days". The song was similar to a cold shower, just that refreshing. The frantic drum beating, rhythmic vocals and overall summer vibe keeps this song on repeat. Hopefully they get the attention they deserve and you can check them out on Myspace.

"My Name Wale and I Came to Kill It"

Photobucket

Wale, another one of those promising '09 hip-hop artists, has finally released his hype track in anticipation of his upcoming album Attention Deficit. Cool and Dre produced the party startin' beat to back Wale's boastful style. Oh and we cannot forget Lady GaGa, she's the perfect addition additon to the song, she is really working hard to be up there, get um GaGa. Check out the CDQ below

You Better Get Enough of CuDi While You Can

In spite of CuDi's recent claim that he was retiring he is still hard at work on the promo trail for his upcoming LP, Man on the Moon: The Guardians. His whole reason for retiring is that Hollywood is destroying his relationship with his industry friends on top of him completing the goals he set out to do. Hollywood has an infamous reputation of being like some X-rated Gossip Girl scene. Fans were almost enraged but we totally respect his decision, that's if it's his final decision, because CuDi is just a regular guy working hard at what he loves. He's not in it for the fame or to be anyone's role model. Sad to say this but that part of American culture where people look for or even allow entertainers to be role models for themselves is pure crap, especially with the lifestyle most of them live.

height="340">

Kid Cudi's performances, as seen above, was nothing short of good entertainment. The songs are mellow and smooth but he still manages to make it hype but what do you expect CuDi knows what he's doing. If he stays in the game no doubt he'll keep fans going crazy but if not then he'll still be just as good.

This Thing Called 'Indefinite Hiatus'

Hello there, it seems like a century and some when we make a new post nowadays. I've mentioned in the past that we were doing some things, met with countless delays, but it's coming along better now and when we return we'll be back just as strong as before or stronger. What I will not do is mention a specific date 'cause it's bad enough our posting has been this scarce. So until then be safe and take care.

Her World is Perfect Now

Photobucket

So there you have it, after all the many push backs we have the leak of Keri's album, In a Perfect World... This just makes it 100% believable that on March 24 her album will finally be in stores. From the beginning of 2008 demo tracks and completed ones were released to the public sort of spoiling the anticipation of this album. So it was refreshing when the final track list was released with a lot of unheard songs. As for the actual music Keri delivers with lots of ballads & bangers, as the album should be called. Her fans will definitely be satisfied and will have the rest of the mainstream crowd hooked. This album would have hit a bit harder if it wasn't for a good amount of the material being spoiled from so long ago but besides that In a Perfect World... is worth some attention. Remember to purchase it in stores MARCH 24.

Sky Might Fall♫

Photobucket

Kanye premiered a clip on his blog featuring CuDi’s new song “Sky Might Fall” in the new Transformers trailer. Shortly after, a video showed up of CuDi performing it live. Now we have the full studio version. Emotion and melody is what CuDi is all about and this song is as great as the rest.

What to Watch Tonight

Photobucket
Photobucket

Tonight there will be 2 premieres on the BET network, the first will be the 2009 Rip the Runway special at 9pm et and the series premiere of Harlem Heights at 10p/m et. Most of you know BET is, let's just say not up there with their quality of programming but they do offer some shows worth a watch with Harlem Heights showing some great potential. The show Harlem Heights follows a group of 20 somethings who reside in Harlem but the twist is it's not the stereotypical story. Sure when you read Harlem or hear the name Harlem you automatically assume ghetto but this is not the case. 'The cast consists of the ex-girlfriend of an international music star; a budding lifestyle editor for a magazine; a struggling actress; a young man with a troubled family; a native Harlem-ite and father of a young daughter; the hard-partying son of a prominent Harlem political leader; an aspiring lawyer with big ambitions; and a driven fashionista.' So be sure to check both shows out starting at 9p/m et on the BET network.

Not to be forgotten, our peepz Lamar James and AllyMissLove of the fresh blog SUPERSWAGGER.COM, will be making guest appearances on Harlem Heights throughout the season. Lamar will also be taking a turn on the runway for T.I.'s Akoo line for the Rip the Runway special. Special shout outs to them, they've been more than good to The C.S. Perspective.

His Name is Mateo

Photobucket
Via: pmablog

Here's another exceptional case of an artist who matches the characteristics of today's top vocal male artists but does it on his own accord. Yes, I'm referring to this guy, Mateo, who until today my musical universe was unaware of. This is the exact type of artist S would melt at the first sound of his voice. Mateo knows how to make some extremely ear-pleasing music.

Head on over to his Myspace to download his mixtape, it's the only way to have those songs you hear in the C.S. Box and his track for "Get Out of My Head" using the "Live Your Life" instrumental can be downloaded below. Definitely be on lookout for Mateo.

Kanye West VH1 Storytellers

So last night on VH1 the much talked about Kanye West edition of VH1's Storytellers finally aired. For those of you who don't know, Storytellers is a mini-concert in which the artist featured gives intermission speeches about their music, sort of like an musical review of each song.

That set design was something else, just something beautiful. Kanye performed a bevy of his hits, a few of the classics and the newer ones from 808's & Heartbreak. Kanye is truly an artist of our time, putting himself into each and every song he performed that night. A personal favorite of mine was "Robocop", I cannot wait until the video is released for it. I do not know but the violin is my favorite instrument to listen to in contemporary music, "Viva La Vida" people. I also couldn't help but jam to the "Good Life" performance, it's just a feel-good song.

Okay so here is the downfall of the whole show. Eventhough the show had a run-time of one and a half hours I probably caught a decent hour. Reason being, I just couldn't bear to hear Kanye continue to feed that ego of his. Both S and I agree Kanye is a genius musician but it is overshadowed by his self-indulgent ramblings. As always Kanye speaks from the heart but he must think that gives him the right to praise himself as the next coming of Jesus or something. I honestly do not think the audience knew what they were hearing because they were cheering for that foolishness. I don't know if I could work for a celebrity for too long, they all seem to be surrounded by YES people and after I warm up I'd be quick to tell them no especially, when it's not in his/her best interest.

With that said watch the perfomances below.

Part 1 (See You In My Nightmares, Robocop, Flashing Lights & Amazing)

Part 2 (Touch The Sky & Say You Will)

Part 3 (Good Life, Heartless/Pinocchio Story & Stronger)
